Heatmap & Session Analysis

Watching what visitors actually do: where they stop scrolling, what they click that is not a link, where forms die.

Analytics tells you that people leave. Session recordings show you why. Watching twenty recordings of your own site is routinely more instructive than a quarter of dashboards, and consistently uncomfortable: the button everyone tapped is an image, the price is below where scrolling stops, the mobile menu takes three attempts.

What the analysis covers

  • Heatmaps for clicks, scroll depth and attention on key pages
  • Session recordings reviewed and annotated, with clips of the moments that matter
  • Form analytics: the exact field where completion dies, and how long people spend fighting it
  • Mobile-specific review, since desktop and mobile behaviour diverge sharply
  • Rage-click and dead-click identification, which surfaces broken expectations fast
  • A prioritised fix list with the evidence attached to each recommendation

Straight answers

Which tool do you use?

Microsoft Clarity for most clients, since it is free and capable. Hotjar where its extra features justify the cost.

Is recording visitors legal?

Yes, with the right configuration: consent handling, and masking of personal data and form inputs, which is set up as part of implementation.

How many recordings need watching?

Twenty to thirty per key page is usually enough for patterns to repeat. Beyond that the returns fall off quickly.
